What's actually wrong with FieldEdge.
FieldEdge doesn't let you try the software. Their own explanation is that customers do better when their team walks you through onboarding. Read that again. You can't drive it before you buy it, for your own good.
There's no price on their site. You book a demo, you sit through it, and then somebody tells you a number that depends on how many techs you have and how the conversation went.
FieldEdge has been around a long time and it shows in the places that matter now. The office side is solid. The phone in your tech's hand is where the age turns up.
Not our words.
“They built it into my FieldEdge, but it's not working right. So I still can't trust the reports.”
“We tried last year to go into two different programs and neither one of them worked out.”
“It's glitchy. Scaling my business, I needed something better.”
Loses signal? Keeps working.
Crawlspace, rooftop, the far end of the county. Your tech opens the job, changes status, adds parts and photos, logs refrigerant, all with zero bars. It queues on the phone and posts in order the moment coverage comes back.
One owner told us the reason two software switches failed for him was losing signal in the field and doing paperwork from memory at the end of the day. That's the problem this solves.
- You knew what you were getting before you ever spoke to anyone.
- Your tech opens a job in a crawlspace with no bars, logs the refrigerant, adds parts, takes photos. It syncs when he's back on the road.
- Billed hours next to actual hours, per tech, on one report.
- Six departments, six classes, straight into QuickBooks. Your P&L by class works without anybody rebuilding it.
- You text the founder and it's fixed this week.
- •A demo before a number.
- •Dead zones mean paperwork at the end of the day, from memory.
- •Reports you don't fully trust, so you check them in QuickBooks anyway.
- •An integration that's technically installed and not actually working.
- •A ticket, a queue, and a roadmap.
Built for what HVAC shops actually do.
Free trial, no card, no call. Sign up tonight at 9pm if you want. One flat price per shop when the trial ends, and you'll know it before you start.
Demo first. Quote after. No free trial at all.
Full offline mode. Open the job, change status, add notes and parts and photos, log refrigerant, all with zero signal. Syncs itself when he's back in coverage.
An owner in a rural county told us the reason two software switches failed for him was losing signal in the field.
Hours Sold report. Billed labor hours against actual on-site time, per tech, with the labor and material split. Built for flat-rate shops, and it works alongside The New Flat Rate.
Owners do it with task codes and then compare it by hand against time tickets.
Job types map to QuickBooks classes automatically. Run six departments, get P&L by class out of the box, plus average ticket, close rate and callback ratio broken out by division.
Class tracking exists. Owners tell us getting clean numbers out of it is the work.
Refrigerant is a field, not a note.
Type and pounds, logged on the unit, on the job, in two taps. It rolls up per piece of equipment and per customer for the year, and the EPA 608 log writes itself.
That's what "built only for HVAC" means in practice: the things your trade has to track are fields in the app, not notes somebody searches for later.
How we stack up against FieldEdge.
If it's missing, we build it.
Not a roadmap. Not a feature request portal that goes nowhere. You tell me what your shop needs and it gets built, usually inside a week.
An owner in Kentucky told me his hospital accounts won't pay an invoice without a PO number on it, and his software had no field for it. That shipped.
An owner running six departments needed billed labor hours sitting next to actual hours per tech so he could run productivity pay. That's a standard report now, in every account.
An owner told me his office does commissions by hand every Friday, with a calculator, because his software can't do tiers or credit the guy who actually sold the job. That shipped too.
Here's why we can do this and they can't. FieldEdge has been around for decades and serves plumbing and electrical alongside HVAC, so your request goes into a queue behind a plumber's and an electrician's, on a codebase that's older than most of the trucks in your yard. We only have HVAC shops. When one of you asks for something, odds are the rest of you need it too, so building it makes the product better for everyone paying us. That's not generosity. That's just what happens when you serve one trade.
One owner told me he'd been asking his current software for accurate commission reporting for three years. Three years.
The bill at the bottom of the page.
A real one. HVAC shop running 8 to 12 users, service and install, a few departments.. Itemized so the marketing-page number and the invoice-at-month-three number are the same.

That thousand-dollar figure came from an HVAC owner on a call with me, not from a spreadsheet I made up. He runs six departments and he'd tried moving off FieldEdge twice before and given up both times. He's on Run a Call now. Go add yours up, all of it, then decide.
In their words.
Other companies worked at it for weeks and couldn’t do it. You migrated us in one day.
I like the AI booking. It dispatched based on where the jobs were and everyone’s ability.
I love your flat-rate model, and that it scales. That’s where you differentiate from everybody else who’s nickel-and-diming.
You guys have done a really good job capturing what a smaller HVAC company actually needs.
I love the user interface. It’s not near as busy as HouseCall Pro.
I like the tech scorecard. You’re not getting that out of Service Fusion, where you’re pulling four reports to figure it out.
You guys are small, so it’s a more personal connection. If we need something, we get answers quickly.
Everything was straightforward. Simple for the tech, simple for the office.
As soon as I got into yours, I could flow right through it. Everything has a learning curve, but yours was really simple to get used to.
The refrigerant report, the fact that you actually have that built in? Freaking hallelujah.
Switching is on us.
Send us your FieldEdge login. We pull your customers, your history, your invoices, your equipment records and your price book, and we put them in for you. Usually inside a day. It costs nothing. One owner told me he'd tried moving twice before and quit both times because it was on him to do it. That's exactly why we do it instead. And if you ever want out, one button exports everything you own and we'll help you move it.
What HVAC owners ask.
What does FieldEdge cost?
I can't tell you, and neither can they until you take a demo. Ours is one flat price per shop with unlimited users, and texting, voice and the AI receptionist are optional on top. You'll have the number in a 30-minute call or by starting the free trial, and there's no add-on list waiting behind it.
I'm on QuickBooks Desktop. Does this work?
We sync to QuickBooks Online, not Desktop. That's FieldEdge's strong suit and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. If Desktop is where your books live, call me before you do anything and I'll tell you straight whether this is a fit yet.
We tried switching software before and it didn't take. Why is this different?
Because you're not doing it. We migrate the data, I train your guys one on one, and there's no contract to be stuck in if it doesn't work. The two things that kill a switch are the data and the techs. We handle both.
Half our county has no cell service. Does the app work?
Yes. Techs open the job with no bars, change status, add notes, parts, photos, and log refrigerant. It queues on the phone and syncs when they're back in coverage.
We run several departments. Can you handle that?
Yes. Job types map to QuickBooks classes, so P&L by class works out of the box, and you get average ticket, close rate and callback ratio by division.
We use The New Flat Rate. Is that a problem?
No. Package pricing lets you present one price per option and keep the labor and material detail internally, which is how flat-rate shops work.
Do I sign anything?
No. Month to month. Leave whenever and take your data with you.
What if I need something you don't have?
Tell me. We're small and we ship fast. That's the entire advantage of buying from the guy who builds it.
